A unique gift with a deep connection to the land of the pharaohs – literally. The alabaster that is still mined from the craggy mountains on the western bank of the Nile in Luxor is the same alabaster that was mined and used in ancient times in this very same place to adorn the palaces and tombs of Egypt’s mighty pharaohs.
Using the very same carving, shaping, and polishing techniques as their ancient Theban ancestors, local craftsmen in Luxor today continue to make beautiful vases, votives, and many other decorative products by hand using the same alabaster stone mined from the mountains around the Valley of the Kings.
